SEPT. 20th Mission Beach International Day of Peace Gathering

Sept. 20 from 8am to 10am 2008 Master of the Year, Sifu Jocelyn Toy is celebrating peace by holding an open participant Tai Chi demonstration class at Mission Beach in San Diego, CA. The morning demonstration will be anointing this year’s International Day of Peace.

In 1981 the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 36/67 declaring an International Day of Peace. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a new resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September of each year as the International Day of Peace.

The resolution: "Declares that the International Day of Peace shall henceforth be observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, an invitation to all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities for the duration of the Day.”

Sifu Toy has spent the last three years between North America and Beijing serving as the Vice President on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies committee where he was responsible for the choreography of the Tai Chi portion of the 2008 Opening Ceremonies. Toy also performed for the United Nations in June, and has been the spokesperson for their global water program
